Another publication, just released and edited by the prolific Christiaan Corlett, Unearthing the Archaeology of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown fills a gap in the provision of heritage information for the Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown area. Lavishly illustrated and well written it details the numerous excavations that have taken place in the county over the last number of years covering most if not all periods form the Neolithic to the post-medieval. It includes sites that have been in the news and caught the public’s imagination from Laughanstown to Kilgobbin Church to Carrickmines Castle (which gets three chapters) to mention just three. A result of the excellent county Heritage Plan it can be bought mainly in Dún Laoghaire but is also available here.
