Kilternan Weddings 1961–2011
Celebrating 50 years of marriage in Kilternan Church of Ireland parish
It seemed like a good idea at the time. Or so we thought. When a book of Kilternan weddings was one of the suggestions for marking 50 years of Mothers’ Union activities in the parish, little did we know the challenge it would be.
Fortunately for us, the couples and individuals who accepted our invitation to participate did so with enthusiasm. For this we are extremely grateful, as without their stories there would be no book. We are also grateful for the support and encouragement which we received from Canon David Moynan and our fellow branch members. We especially thank those with more experience who have given us invaluable guidance, namely Mary Ann Williams and others too numerous to mention. Last, but not least, we convey our loving thanks to our spouses and families, who have been so patient throughout the process when meals have been delayed and late hours kept.
It is intended that this book will act as a lasting memento of many happy occasions in the parish church. The stories are representative of those parishioners and others who chose Kilternan for the solemnisation of their marriage. Although the setting is always the same, each story is quite different.
We sincerely hope that you get as much enjoyment from reading the stories as we did in compiling them. We also trust that you will join with us in giving thanks for the joys of marriage and family life.
All profits from the sale of this book will be donated to Mothers’ Union projects.
