This is a bilingual publication containing the transcription of the letter written by Captain Francisco de Cuéllar after surviving the wreck of his ship La Lavia in Streedagh Bay, on the northwest coast of Ireland, on 20 September 1588. The letter recounts his extraordinary journey through hostile territory, eventually managing to escape and reach Flanders.

In addition to a facsimile reproduction of the letter preserved by the Royal Academy of History (Real Academia de la Historia), the edition includes an accessible scholarly publication consisting of a series of articles on Cuéllar himself, the history of the shipwrecks, archaeological investigations, and the management of the cultural legacy of the Spanish Armada.
